The Seattle Emergency Hubs is looking to establish an Emergency Hub in View Ridge and needs volunteers!

Emergency Hubs are open areas where neighbors will naturally gather to support one another after a large disaster (think earthquake or significant power outage) until outside help arrives. The View Ridge Park is an ideal location for neighbors to gather. Emergency Hub Volunteers work to:

  • Spread the word to meet in the park post-disaster
  • Write a grant to get the gear to help their neighbors organize
  • Promote household preparedness

The work is fun, informative, and fulfilling. Plus, community-building is something we can get our arms around during these tumultuous times.

They are hosting an informational meeting this weekend:

  • Sunday, Oct 5 at 3pm
  • NE Seattle Library (6801 35th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98115)

They will be educating the group on Hubs – what they are and what they aren’t – and walking the group thru the process of establishing a Hub. There is no obligation if you attend. They are just hoping to find a few View Ridge neighbors to spearhead this project with their support.
