First – as a member of the Communications Committee – we’d love some help with our tech! We’ve inherited a website that is VERY clunky and we’re trying to figure it out. Any help appreciated.

We had a meeting in January and the 4 Committees met. They are possibly meeting as committees, separate from the whole – the Communication committee is meeting now! The four committees are Community and Connection, Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Zoning and Development and Greens Space and Tree Advocacy.

Since we met, there has been lots of activity! The Seattle Neighborhood Alliance – a group of that includes all the Neighborhood Community Councils and is independent of the city – was hosted for a get together by the Fremont Community Council. The District-4 groups met with City Council Rep Maritza Rivera, there is an upcoming meeting of the NE District Council on June 4, 5:30 – 7:30 at the NE Library.

The Greens Space and Tree Advocacy is hoping to host a neighborhood walk. (Famous neighbor Cisko even said he’d join if time allows!). Watch this space for more details.

The Safety and Emergency Preparedness group is working to collect a registry of block leaders so they can disseminate information expeditiously to improve resiliency for all of us! If you or someone you know is a block leader (or you’re looking for a block leader) please email Andrew Taylor or Ginnie Miller (andrew_tayler@mac.com and/or Ginniemiller@earthlink.net ).

There is a buzz on Zoning and Development with Mayor Katie Wilson moving quickly on the One Seattle Plan. Neighborhood Associations want to be involved. Alex Fryer of the Seattle Times is preparing a piece on this and hopefully VRCC will be included.

That’s it for now. If folks would like to get together for a VRCC meeting in June – Please, Please let us know and we’ll do what we can to make it happen!

Thanks for supporting VRCC – we are here for you!!
