An update on the ongoing problems at Magnuson Park –
There have been reports of street racing along Sand Point Way just outside of the park.
There is also still reports of loud parties occurring until 4am in the park even after locking the gates and the installation of SPD’s mobile precinct inside the park.
Below is an update from several of our local elected officials on the ongoing problems at Magnuson Park.
Thank you for your emails,
Please know that I have been in contact with the Mayor’s Office, SPD and Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) on the issues we are experiencing at Magnuson Park. We are all working together to try and find solutions as we do not have enough officers to be able to manage for all the public safety issues across the city.
Last week, Captain Aagard from the North Precinct stationed their mobile precinct at the park to address criminal activity there as well as the noise issues. SPR is also having their Park Rangers give emphasis to the park.
I am also cc’ing the Seattle Department of Transportation to see what assistance they can provide related to the racing at Sandpoint Way. Traffic calming is needed there.
We will continue to work together on solutions to this and the other issues at the park.
Thank you, again.

Hello,
Thank you for bringing this serious issue to my attention and for providing detailed information regarding the street racing activities in Magnuson Park.
I understand the significant concerns regarding the dangerous driving behaviors reported by Richard Merrell, including the frequent incidents of street racing and reckless driving. This type of activity poses a severe risk to public safety and disrupts the community.
It is essential that our law enforcement agencies are aware of the frequency and severity of these incidents so they can allocate resources effectively and implement targeted enforcement strategies.
Thank you for your vigilance and dedication to ensuring the safety of our community. If you or Richard have any further information or need additional support, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
