| Hello Neighbors,
Many of you have written to share your concerns about the recent spike in crime in the district.
I hear you and am equally concerned. Not only as your representative, but also as a fellow D4 resident and a mom. This is not the Seattle that I moved to 23 years ago, and it is not the Seattle that we deserve.
I want to give you an update on what I have done to address your concerns. I have spoken to the Seattle Police Department’s North Precinct Captain. She shared that these most recent crimes are different from what we saw happening at Magnuson Park this summer. SPD continues to monitor and investigate the crimes that have been happening and, as you may have seen in the news, they have made arrests in many of the cases. The Captain has officers working overtime and I am grateful to her and the officers for their efforts. The investigation into last night’s carjacking is ongoing and I will share information as I learn more.
I have also reached out to the Mayor’s office and requested that more resources be made available to the North Precinct.
