Thanks to all our neighbors who made time to join us in the park last weekend!! We had a great turnout and I’m excited for the energy in this group right now!!
We talked about what’s happening in View Ridge with the community council (thanks so, so much to Max Wells for all the work he’s putting into getting our new, much improved website up and running – we’re waiting on Google – but great things to come!). Thanks too to Ted for offering to help.
We talked about next steps for the VRCC which will all happen at our next meeting – in October – date TBD – watch for it on this space and at a table in the Party in the Park. At that meeting , (which we’ll try to make hybrid) with an in-person (maybe potluck – family friendly?) component at the church where we’ll elect a board which will then appoint officers.
Speaking of the Party in the Park – this will be on September 13, from 2-5 – with live music and plenty of tables on site to learn more about opportunities small and large to get involved in our committees: Green space and trees, Safety and Emergency Planning (with both traffic and crime arms), Zoning and Landuse – updates on the One Seattle plan, and finally – my favorite: Community, Connection and Communication to help plan for community events to help us all build and maintain neighborly relationships. The next planning meeting with be on August 12 at 5p in the park – all your energy and support is joyfully invited.
Finally – we talked about the momentum building in the city with the growing Seattle Neighborhood Association which is now holding quarterly meetings and helping all the Community Councils help each other to build community. The next District 4 meeting is coming up – our opportunity to meet with our City Council representative – if you have thoughts for the meeting, please let us know as we plan to send a representative!
That’s all for now! I hope you’re enjoying our glorious summer, the wading pool and the new play structure.
Your own Neighborhood Council – we’re here for all of us.
